With This Ring (Harlequin American Romance) ReviewI read this because this summer I read A Man For Maggie, and I really liked it.
This is the sequel, but you can read it without having read the first, though you are missing some of the details.
The book starts with our hero rescuing our heroine from a wedding gone south. Leslie has walked in on her groom (Gerald) and one of her "best friends" (candice) having some pre-wedding intamicies. So, she bolts. Brent, who has loved Leslie since childhood, has been stalking... er... stopping by to see if the wedding goes off, and gladly rescues the damsel in distress.
The relationship between Leslie and Brent is nice, and grows in a believable way. After all, they have known each other for years, but each has misconceptions of the other. This part of the story is very nice.
But there are loose ends I don't like - the author keeps dropping hints about Gerald and Candice, but this is never really addressed. Also, there are things I think you WOULD miss from not reading the first book, like details about Leslie and Brent that flesh out this story.
For the rushed ending and the series approach, I have subtracted 2 stars.
