Rings, Swings, and Climbing Things ReviewI purchased this copy for my adult son who had recently become a father.
I love this book. I have had my own copy for many many years and finally after my granddaughter was born and seeing the small condo in the big city where the family lives I dug out my dog-eared copy and began to plan. I then purchased all the wood and had the lumber guy cut it to proportions. Then I brought it to my son's home many many miles away and we spent a weekend sawing, sanding, gluing, & screwing all the wood together to come up with three durable pieces of large muscle equipment for my granddaughter who was 1 & 1/2 years old at the time and another early toddler who shared daytime playtime with her. I had the chance to watch them use the homemade equipment and I was delighted to see how useful it was and how much fun they had figuring out new ways to use the arrangements. Their large muscle systems were stimulated by climbing, sliding, balancing. It was a grand win-win situation. The children were developing their large muscles appropriately and I (grandma) got to feel sooo good about actually having made the equipment. And working with my grown son to create something for his own child -- well, that was the icing on the cake, as they say!
The equipment is made so that it is sturdy and at the same time folds up and/or can be slipped behind a door, etc. It is ideal for small living spaces. I love this book. I just do.Rings, Swings, and Climbing Things Overview
