Mother Goose on the Loose ReviewMother Goose on the Loose is a must-have resource for librarians, early childhood educators and all who work or live with young children. The program descriptions in the manual are ample and clear. Combine this with the enclosed CD with its songs and instructions and you're ready to go! I have used many of Betsy Diamant-Cohen's ideas and Barbara Cass-Beggs' songs in my Born to Read library programs and they work because they are simply so right for this age. Parents tell me with delight how they hear their 18 month olds reciting rhymes and singing our songs over and over again at home.

I figured I might use it at school in my Pre-K classroom with 3, 4, & 5 year olds or at home with my one year old son. I've gotten good ideas for both situations. It is a nice mix of activities that take no preparation, just a little or a lot depending on what you feel like. Most of the ideas use things that are found around the house. Others are more obvious things you probably already do but they offer good expansions for different ages. It has projects in history, science, literature and more. Each lesson includes examples, grading rubrics, ISTE guidelines, enrichments and trouble shooting. I'm the tech coordinator for my school. I leave the book out for the teachers to look through when they need a project. The author has done an excellent job of hitting all the high points. The book is even better than I expected because it includes links to an active blog where readers can ask questions and interact with other teachers using the material.
