His Wedding Ring Of Revenge (Harlequin Presents) ReviewThat about sums it up. Now I like an Alpha hero. No really. Strong, straightforward, knows what he wants...and if he's a bit dangerous to know, even better. I bought the book because it didn't seem to be the namby-pamby, politically-correct baby, bride pap we've been fed for years (the reason I turned away from romance). But this goes too far the other way--the man has NO redeeming qualities. NONE.
If he can say things like "You're the bastard daughter of my father's whore." to a 14 yr old, and she STILL wants and loves him, she deserves everything she gets. And all he has to say by way of apology is "I was angry." Despite his horrid verbal and emotional abuse, she loves him because he's beautiful, (he must be--we're told twice on every page), wealthy and is good in bed. How shallow and idiotic is that? I'm sorry, but this book signifies everything BAD about romantic stories from the 80s. Stupid women, brutish men. And it seems to me a little honesty on the part of EITHER character would have saved a lot of pages. In fact, the story would have been over before page three.
As for the writing, it's quite good (except I think "gagging for it" lowers the charcter from hero to scumbag. Given a meatier story, the author might have done well. But story is too thin begin with, and highly padded by pages and pages of excrutiatingly repetitious internal dialogue. Yes, we KNOW he's handsome. Get over it already. It is possible that this author could write a short contemp romance with engaging characters and a good plot. Not this time. His Wedding Ring Of Revenge (Harlequin Presents) Overview

Wild Fling or a Wedding Ring (Harlequin Presents Extra) ReviewMira Lyn Kelly takes her readers on a sensual journey with Wild Fling Or a Wedding Ring, her brilliant debut which doesn't let up for a minute because their passion immediately flares into combustible.
Cali McGovern is a driven woman and determined to land a promotion which will take her to London. Due to a past relationship that went sour because the man she loved not only cheated on her, he also asked her to give up a coveted position, letting her employer down. That would never happen again and so Cali was determined to work extra hard for her boss Amanda in their Chicago office to earn the London position.
Upon her arrival in Chicago, Cali spends an evening at a jazz club her boss recommended based on her ex-brother-in-law Jackson. She realizes she's going to have to put her nose to the grindstone so this one evening, she's going to relax because the next morning she'll move into her apartment and check out her office. What she doesn't count on is being hit on by a drunk nor being rescued by a handsome doctor by the name of Jake. She also doesn't count on being lip-locked with the most handsome man she has ever met in a telephone both. Nor does she count on the next morning when that very same doctor arrives on her doorstep, that this man called Jake was actually her bosses ex-brother-in-law, Jackson. Talk about a small world or was it?
Jake Tyler has it all, he's a well known physician, he's handsome, built like a Greek God, can have any woman he wants but he has only one flaw, he doesn't do commitment. He adores Amanda as they were childhood friends and he married her sister. But now years later since their divorce, he learned one lesson the hard way and doesn't want to make the same mistake again. Now, however, he's faced with a problem, he's more than attracted to Cali, she's also living next door to his apartment and she's also employed by his ex-sister-in-law. He wants to see Cali and she tries very hard not to make that happen because she secretly believes her boss is a little in love with Jake.
Jake was relentless in his pursuit of Cali and then under the confines of yet another small place, they act on their passion, it's so explosive it leaps off of the pages of this magnificent love story and it doesn't let up throughout the entire book with the exception of the last chapter. "Wild fling" was exactly that because Jake knew it would soon be over and she would leave . So why not have a "fling" and enjoy each other for a few months?
Cali couldn't believe it, she was in over her head, she had feelings for Jake, feelings that she couldn't keep from him as it showed in her eyes. When Jake realized it, he wanted to put an end to their relationship but somehow Cali convinces him she can walk away when the time comes and so they continue their combustible affair and in the end she goes to London.
Be prepared for your heart to reach out to Cali, for tears to fall and praying that Jake would come to his senses bringing them both a happy ending. Author Mira Lyn Kelly delivered it all in Wild Fling Or A Wedding Ring? This debut book was incredible and a well crafted super charged romance! In the end, the author gave the Chicago playboy and woman he adored a chance at their well deserved happiness!Wild Fling or a Wedding Ring (Harlequin Presents Extra) Overview

A Little Bit Pregnant (Silhoutte Special Ed. No 1573) (Readers' Ring series) ReviewNicki Beauman and Zane Rankin may be boss & employee at Rankin/Ritter Security firm, but they're also very close friends. Which is unfortunate, because Nicki has spent the last three years unsuccessfully trying to banish the her mild crush on her attachment-avoiding, bimbo-dating boss while enjoying every minute of his friendly attention. But when Nicki's regular date stands her up, and Zane takes her to a party instead, sparks fly and the couple end up in bed - with unexpected results.
Mallery tells a sweet story in "A Little Bit Pregnant," about a believable heroine who almost never lets being in a wheelchair stop her, and a hero whose charming exterior makes him fun to read while masking a troublesome (but not overdramatic) backstory. The dialog is witty, and even as friends the affection between them shines. Both sides of the story are plausible, and Mallery does well to capture the rift between loving someone and admitting it to yourself.
Readers noting that this is a Follow-up to "Shelter in a Soldier's Arms" (Silhouette SE 1400) will see some similarities between the plotlines, but "Pregnant's" honest take on love, encouraging main characters, and own form of wit make it stand out on its own.A Little Bit Pregnant (Silhoutte Special Ed. Gold Ring Of Betrayal (Harlequin Presents, No 1917) ReviewThis book really deserved the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice award for Best Harlequin Presents 1994-95 that it won. Absolutely quality romance delivered by an author that helps U escape for an hour - or two - from your nerve-wrecking day-to-day life. Nicolas Santino never forgave Sara, his wife, for what he believed as an ultimate betrayal of his love. He doesn't accept that Lia is his daughter. Until one day every mother's nightmare came true, Lia has been kidnapped. That means he has to save the little girl's life with every ounce of his intelligence & money. But seeing Sara again after 3 years of separation has unwittingly opened up his suppressed desire for her & made him think of starting new. Sara has grown up from the painfully shy girl that everyone - from Nicolas' adored father & high-class friends - snubbed into a strong-willed woman who fights tooth & nail to get what she deserves & not being brow-beaten anymore by Nicolas & the bullying father-in-law. But of course, Nicolas, the dark-haired, sexy-as-hell Sicilian millionaire, scored a few points himself in their battle of wills, with his unflinching determination to break down Sara's barrier. Provocative is the word - as mentioned in the back cover teaser - to describe the buzzing sexual tension throughout the story. The ending could've come out straight from a romantic classic movie, a reminiscent of the first moment the 2 of 'em met that left Nicolas lovestruck. If you're a sucker for corny stuff like this, then it's definitely the one for you.....Gold Ring Of Betrayal (Harlequin Presents, No 1917) Overview
