A Little Bit Pregnant (Silhoutte Special Ed. No 1573) (Readers' Ring series) ReviewNicki Beauman and Zane Rankin may be boss & employee at Rankin/Ritter Security firm, but they're also very close friends. Which is unfortunate, because Nicki has spent the last three years unsuccessfully trying to banish the her mild crush on her attachment-avoiding, bimbo-dating boss while enjoying every minute of his friendly attention. But when Nicki's regular date stands her up, and Zane takes her to a party instead, sparks fly and the couple end up in bed - with unexpected results.
Mallery tells a sweet story in "A Little Bit Pregnant," about a believable heroine who almost never lets being in a wheelchair stop her, and a hero whose charming exterior makes him fun to read while masking a troublesome (but not overdramatic) backstory. The dialog is witty, and even as friends the affection between them shines. Both sides of the story are plausible, and Mallery does well to capture the rift between loving someone and admitting it to yourself.
Readers noting that this is a Follow-up to "Shelter in a Soldier's Arms" (Silhouette SE 1400) will see some similarities between the plotlines, but "Pregnant's" honest take on love, encouraging main characters, and own form of wit make it stand out on its own.A Little Bit Pregnant (Silhoutte Special Ed. SEALed with a Ring ReviewI really enjoyed this book. It is the third in the series and is the best so far in my opinion. I loved the hero, David. He was a very real, very human character who made mistakes and grew and learned. The author did a good job making him a strong and sexy man who was also gentle while not being sickly sweet perfect. The heroine, JJ, was a strong woman who needed a strong man. Anyone less she would have just walked over. Still, she wasn't a ball breaker. She had fears and insecurities that her relationship with David helped her overcome. Their relationship grew over time and was not one of those "we met last Tuesday, saved the world from annihilation and fell in love by Saturday" kind of stories. You really believe that this is a relationship which will last.
The writing was very well done. The dialog was strong. The love scences were good, hot without being offensive and not overpowering the story line. Characters from the other 2 books showed up but didn't have their own scenes which I liked. I like to see old friends but their stories have been told. This is not one of those authors who can't seem to let go of old characters and has to continually write scences from their POV in later books.
I liked the SEAL details. She sprinkled them in without an info dump and didn't write as if the reader had never heard of a SEAL and had to be told everything about them. The only thing I wondered about was JJ being so rich and so prominent in high society from owning a car dealership. I will admit that I know nothing about either car dealerships or the junior league set so maybe that's all realistic too.
I really enjoyed it and if you like good love stories with SEALs in them, I think you will too.SEALed with a Ring Overview

The Wolf Hunger (The Wolf Ring Series) ReviewThis was an exciting read. The author did a great job of creating believable, likeable characters. The narrator pays a lot of attention to detail, like the emotions and facial expressions of the characters. This was also evident in the subtle ways they express themselves. Another thing I liked is that there is an outside element - the ring - which adds suspense and mystery to the story. I also like that the action was divided into chapters, rather than one long one(as I've seen in some online erotic novellas). It made you want to go to the next chapter to see what happens next. The Wolf Ring (an erotic/erotica paranormal romance) ReviewNo SPOILERS or plot summaries. Recommendations included.
HIGH LEVEL: This is a short story that reads like the opening chapters of an over-dramatized paranormal romance. There was some magic: magical ring, legend of werewolves come to life in a whimsical way. Overall, however, it was pretty unsatisfying.
SEXUAL CONTENT: While it is labeled as "erotic" - there was really only one scene of lust and it was just OK. It was sexy in a desperate kind of way, but felt incomplete.
PLOT & CHARACTERS: Not really much plot and the story was so short that pacing was irrelevant. Mostly this was just incomplete. It read like a vignette, not a story. The characters were undeveloped, though the man was intriguing. It might have been fun to get to know him better through a longer story.
BOTTOM LINE: This story is one word: HARMLESS. Nothing really to it, but nothing terribly against it except that it was too short. If this had been developed into a real book, it might have turned out to be "just ok." As it is, though- not worth reading.
