Ozark Weddings: The Hills Are Alive with the Ring of Romance (Romancing America) ReviewIf you should want to dig for Arkansas literary gems, let me suggest Ozark Weddings: The Hills Are Alive with the Ring of Romance (Romancing America). The book contains three Arkansas diamonds from the natural state. Pick the book up and dig in for some sparkling entertainment. Told in the vernacular, these stories have a folksy tone that is relaxing, invigorating, and good-humored.
Three romances are in this one book. They all occur in the state of Arkansas. All three couples are thirty-something.
First, there's LARKSPUR DREAMS, set in Eureka Springs, Larkspur is an artist with a new neighbor. She has a plan of helping the accountant, who has moved next door, loosen up. Do opposites attract?
Second, there is THE LOVE SONG. In this story an unpolished gem of a lady attracts the attention of two suave men. Who will win her heart? The city of Little Rock comes to life on the pages. Having spent repeated vacations at Petit Jean, I enjoyed the waterfall scene.
Third, CASTLES IN THE AIR is the tale of a Hot Springs candy-store owner who has an encounter with a geek. Will there be a romance?

The Ring on Her Finger ReviewI have enjoyed Ms. Bevarly's other books, but this one seemed to fall a little short. While her other books had the characters interacting, this endeavor failed in that area. We were constantly reading what the characters were thinking and at times it got very repetative. I like to see the main characters do some verbal sparing. I think that reveals more about the character. The ending was a bit too contrived too. Everyone was mad one second and then hunky dory the next. I hope Ms. Bevarly's next offering raises the bar.The Ring on Her Finger Overview

Heartstrings and Diamond Rings ReviewHurrah! Jane Graves is back to her excellent form in this brand-new book....well, brand-new except for the fact that we loyal readers were introduced to the heroine a few books ago and some of us (including this loyal reader) had written to Jane asking for Alison's story. Here it is and it's a doozy. Funny, warm, delightful plot, lots of empathy.....and some terrific zingers. I have to admit that I wasn't a fan of Bernadette and Jeremy in "Black Ties and Lullabies"; they were neither likable nor believable. In this one, we have three-dimensional, conflicted but very likable hero and heroine. And, as a plus, Heather and Tony (from "Tall Tales and Wedding Veils") are back to play supporting roles.
I should mention that this book obviously takes place today, more or less. There are many references to the drop in the housing market, slow-down of real estate development and other current matters. I liked that as it anchored the book in the here and now. The matchmaking elements of the plot also refer to the real organizations that do this and that, too, makes it feel more real. This is not to say that Jane hasn't used prodigious amounts of creativity; she has, and the book is all the better for both reality and originality.
Highly recommended if you like your romance books with more depth, lots of humor and excellent writing.Heartstrings and Diamond Rings Overview
