Taste of Home Winning Recipes II -- All New Recipes ReviewAs a long time subscriber of Taste of Home magazines & owner of many of their cookbooks, I was looking forward to getting this 2nd edition of Winning Recipes-having already owned the original. It arrived today and I was extremely disappointed to see that it is nothing but a repackaging of old recipes found in any of their magazines or cookbooks. There is precious little new about it, despite the ALL NEW statement on the front cover. I will be sending the book back.....Taste of Home Winning Recipes II -- All New Recipes Overview

The Taste of Home Cookbook: Cooks Who Care Edition ReviewI bought this as a gift for a bachelor friend that is a little wary about cooking actual meals. I've made some dishes from it and have made my own recipes based off some of the included recipes. I think it does a great job of keeping the ingredient list to easily found grocery items. The tags separating the sections is helpful to getting to what sort of meal you want. The ingredient index is also really helpful for finding a recipe that will use up that leftover ground turkey, or whatever else you have sitting in your fridge. My bachelor friend is still a bit intimidated by the recipes, always saying he doesn't have all the ingredients, and that he doesn't have awesome cooking skills, but I'm sure I'll make him come around to using it.
The downsides - like most cookbooks (maybe all) it doesn't have every single basic recipe in it. There also is not any nutritional information for the recipes.
Upsides - Handy splashguard to keep the page clean while you're cooking up a storm. Free issues of the Taste of Home magazine with the purchase (opt out of the subscription when the time comes.) Three ring bound edge lets it lay flat. Great pictures of the end product.The Taste of Home Cookbook: Cooks Who Care Edition Overview

The Taste of Home Cookbook ReviewI have long been a fan of the Taste of Home magazine & would collect their annual "Yearbooks" of recipes. Naturally I had to add this to my collection and was pleasantly surpised by the addition of a conversion and substitution chart on the inside cover. The lay out of the book itself is orderly and in each section includes a wealth of information on everything from different cheeses, meat preparation, utensils, what goes well with what etc.
Taste of Home recipes have always been a plus in that they were always good food made from readily availble ingredients, yet the addition of easy to read charts and photos provide crucial how-to information that makes this an excellent book for a novice cook while the variety in recipes will offer plenty of new options to try out for an advanced cook.
I also liked that the book is sturdy and very well made, it is designed for endurance and extensive use.
As usual Taste of Home does not disapoint & this book is Highly recomended!The Taste of Home Cookbook Overview

This is no means a cookbook of sophisticated cuisines, but for everyday living which is so appealing to the average household. Great ideas for quick throw togethers when the day is too hectic, and many many pictures for those who insist they will only buy cookbooks with pictures.
