Survival Run (Ring of Evil #2) (Hardy Boys Casefiles, Case 77) ReviewSURVIVAL RUN is a cheesy book comparative to a low budget action flick... Dixon is losing imagination. Back in the good old days, Dixon wrote very good mysteries full of adventure and suspense. In this book, he's reduced to a plot including atomic bombs and cold-blooded psycho terrorists.
The storyline is typical: a group of international terrorists who've got their hands onto plans for nuclear explosives and are going to blow up the world. The Hardy Boys and a girl they've met called Gina Abend are investigating even as the top secret government Network agency and an army of dozens get ready to raid the Assassins' (very imaginative terrorist name!) base of operations. Frank and Joe are trapped and get away several times, having a lot of car/dirt bike chases, and (wow) even building hang gliders out of tents and watching a once-extinct volcano suddenly go active and blow its top (what the...?).
The book vaguely reminds the reader of Dixon's old writings as there are several scenes of action and some good details, but besides that, the book isn't that great. Get it if you're a fan of low-budget action flicks.Survival Run (Ring of Evil #2) (Hardy Boys Casefiles, Case 77) Overview

The Wishing Ring ReviewPrincess Ali has a nose like a carrot! It's the most unfortunate situation for a princess, who is supposed to learn to speak to her subjects on a regular basis. But how can she speak in front of a crowd when people always point and laugh?
When the princess meets a boy named Cory and learns of his search for the Wishing Ring, she knows she has found the answer. If she can help Cory find the Ring, she can wish for a regular-sized nose, and all of her worries will end. But many things stand in their way, including an ogre, who guards the ring.
What a cute story! I read it in one sitting. This is a middle grade fantasy story that reads like a classic fairy tale with adventure, friendship, a quest, and a happily-ever-after. Though the ending may surprise some young readers, it's well worth it. The only thing I couldn't quite picture was how eagles' wings would lift the body of a polar bear carrying two riders! But that's part of the charm of this story. It makes you smile. Recommended for readers eight and up.
*I received this book free from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.The Wishing Ring OverviewThe King's castle stands alone atop Grand Ur Mountain, but even that does not match the solitude surrounding Princess Ali. With a carrot-shaped nose, she trudges through her princess duties with the most unfortunate face. With her pet greybar (a creature with the head of a greyhound, body of a polar bear, and wings of an eagle) as her only friend, Ali dreams of becoming a beautiful princess. When Cory, a ninja-in-training, drops through the royal chimney, he does not intend to enlist the help of anyone, much less a girl, but she holds the key to the Creator's map. The ancient map marks the secret hiding place of the magic Wishing Ring, a ring grants the wearer one wish.Cory's mysterious need for the ring and Ali's dream of a beauty send the pair to a forgotten land. Only the war ravaged clan of Odana can translate the map's key. But even if they manage to find a translator, the question remains-can they beat the Ogre who guards the ring?

Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings ReviewMy Thoughts: Real Mermaids was a purely cute read! We are introduced to Jade who is 13 years old. She has a best friend named Cori who she likes to share everything with. She lives with her dad. Her mom died a year ago and she's been missing her ever since.
Jade likes a boy named Luke. This is a somewhat new crush. He comes back into town after being away for a while. The thing is, he used to make fun of her for a while, or at least she thought so, calling her scissor lips. He comes back with nice hair, a killer tan, and really cute.
Jade gets her first period and its quite a funny situation. If I was in Jade's position and didn't know much about what would happen, I would have been really nervous and embarrassed too!
One night while Jade is in the bathtub she falls asleep and wakes up with a tail. What is going on? Is she a mermaid? Read the book to find out!
Overall: This was a cute book. It didn't have much real depth to it. Just a sweet read. It felt more like a tween book than teen. No real substance to it besides just the fun factor. Still a cute read though. I liked Luke, I liked Cori, I liked the storyline. I'll definitely read the next book in the series though!
Cover: Like it. Love the colors and its actually really cute.
What I'd Give It: 3/5 Cupcakes
