Ring Yo ReviewThe phone rings...Ring! A boy answers...Yo? and we're off and running, eavesdropping on one half of a telephone conversation. What are they talking about? What's happened? Can you imagine the other person's response, the person we can't see or hear? Christopher Raschka has written a one of a kind, inventive picture book that lets imaginations soar as youngsters get to create the story line and write the other half of this one sided conversation. His wonderful artwork, full of facial expressions and body language will give kids clues as they fill in the missing text. With a sample conversation at the end to get you started, children 5 and up will have hours of fun creating new scenarios and lines to complete this phone call.Ring Yo Overview

The Best Short Stories of Ring Lardner ReviewLardner's voice is distinctive, and it cuts through all the noise in your life until all you hear are his characters speaking, telling their stories as best they know how, their dialect as real and immediate as it was when these stories were first written. Imagine Dorothy Parker covering the World Series, Oscar Wilde at a bridge club in suburbia, Dave Barry on the slow train from Chicago to New York. The only difference is in Lardner's restraint: his characters, when ridiculous, never fail to remind that to laugh at them is to laugh at ourselves as well, a fact which can be comforting and disconcerting at the same time.
Best of the collection: "Alibi Ike," "Liberty Hall," "There Are Smiles," "The Anniversary."The Best Short Stories of Ring Lardner Overview

The Ring Around the Rose ReviewDavid has reached a new peak with this engrossing tale of an as yet unstarted final battle between man and myth. At first you may find yourself a little lost as the story jumps thru time and different characters. This will subside--ride it out and you will be pulled into an intoxicating mix of myth, lost love, and stark reality that will leave you howling for more. David has a unique way with a phrase-"Burning like a cross on an Alabama hilltop"-perfect! That will leave you grinning whilst grimacing at the same time. Highly recommended!!The Ring Around the Rose Overview

With This Ring, I Thee Dread: A Contemporary Romantic Comedy ReviewTypically people aren't forced into marriage in this day very often. But that did happen for Ryan and Elizabeth. Their harsh reality of being forced to marry and live together in the Alaskan wilderness for four months is appalling to both parties. Elizabeth hates Ryan for his behavior during grade school. Ryan hates Elizabeth for her coldness toward him. Both learn that there were other forces at work in their relationships and their hatred is replaced by friendship. Of course, it all works out in the end. It wouldn't be a romance novel if that didn't happen!
The book is a delight to read! It didn't take me long at all to get caught up in the story, eager to see what would happen with every turn of a page. Ruth Ann Nordin brings to light a rare situation where two people who are forced to be together do come around to like and even love one another. Her style is fun and exciting to read! I can't wait to delve into other works by this fun and exciting author! With This Ring, I Thee Dread: A Contemporary Romantic Comedy Overview
