Sparkle (Kindle Single) ReviewMade the mistake of downloading this at work... couldn't let it go til I was done.
Loved every word of it - I myself opted for a simpler engagement ring, I never understood the Tiffany craze or why a man should ruin himself on a ring... I prefer putting down money on a house. But that's just me. Or it's me and Mara Altman.
I had read "Thanks for Coming", her novel, before reading this and she never disappoints. Always funny, always witty, always uncomfortably honest.

Ring of Lies ReviewWhat happens when the man you have been married to for ten years, is not whom you thought he was? After Daniel Elliot dies in a car crash, Grace is left to deal with all the details regarding his will. Grace finds that Daniel has an Alias, has a lot of money, and a beach house in Miami that she knew nothing of. Its seems that this loveless marriage, that Daniel kept Grace in, controlling her and keeping his secrets was more than just a connivance but a lie. Her life with him was safe and stable but now she is unsure has to whom her husband really was.
Grace contacts an old friend Jack West, an FBI agent that Grace had met 6 months prior. Jack agrees to help Grace Get answers to questions and unravel the mystery behind all the secrecy in her marriage and find out who Daniel Elliot really was and where this money came from.
With Strings of lies, deceit, murder and mystery, Jack protects Grace from all in harm way to only discover the lies have been right in front of Grace the whole time. Family boundaries are pushed, heart breaking discoveries are made, and Grace finally decides to take her stance. Jack uses his expertise to help Grace to unravel all the mysteries and secrets and life is not at what Grace thought it was. It was a marriage filled with lies.

An emotional roller coaster that was fast paced , filled with murder, suspense, lies, and romance. I really enjoyed this mysterious storyline, the plot smoothly flowed from one chapter to the next, and the end finalized swiftly but efficiently to give the reader a well delivered finale to a susspensful read. Romance was present not the main factor in the read but I felt this was evenly distributed to give us those elements we look forward in any suspenseful romance thriller. I was worried towards the end only 15 pages to go and still no deal was sealed. But Victoria ended it well, nothing left unfinished, and a finale which I am sure pleased the reader. I know I was impressed.
The main characters two very different characters, but tended to fit the jigsaw well. Every little piece and details were included, giving an insight to the characters personality and views. Descriptions once again well detailed thoughts, emotions and surrounding well portrayed. I enjoy this in a read, as I am a visual reader!!!
I enjoyed Jacks character definitely not flawless, but his love for his daughter softened his hard exterior, good cop -hard arse. He new what his responsibilities where and never faulted with either. He was brave, and respected, and gallant to the end.
Grace was a tortured soul, living in a loveless marriage stuck to her vows, not matter what. She was withdrawn in the beginning of the story but in time her character grew to great depths creating a complete new person. Strong and determined to move on with life, and start to live. I was happy to see Grace stand her ground and move on with life no matter what had happened to her. She had a strong will and in the end this showed in her character.
There are plenty of villains present creating that mystery and suspense that we all crave in a good thrilling read. Their characters coming across as callous and uncaring and just hard arse, this was portrayed well. Could a villian be portrayed but this ... You grew to hate the charcters and what they stood for, but this also is part of a great story...
Overall, Victoria never disappoints in her writing, intriguing the reader into the world that she has created, drawing us into the suspense, and mystery and even little loving entwined. The romance wasn't a big part of the story, but I fell it was just perfect, giving us the insight to Jack and Grace's emotions and dragging us along in the moment.
All secondary charcters meshed well with the story line, making it a enjoyable read , all necessary and blending in well with the plot.
I've now read two of Victoria's stories and have immensely enjoyed both and I certainly look forward to more of her stories in the future... A must read!! That will keep you on the edge of your seat, right till the very endRing of Lies Overview

The Use and Complexity of Sex Magic ReviewI loved this book.It drew me in and I didn't want to leave this world. The women characters were strong and well developed, the hero was hot! Loved the sex magic scenes.
Norfarland's adventures were funny and I loved the way it all tied together in the end. If you like romantic fantasy, this is definitely one you don't want to miss.

Friendship Ring #06: Fill In The Blank (tommy's Story) ReviewTommy is a 12 year old boy who is just entering 7th grade. Zoe, his best friend, and Tommy have been friends since elementary school. Tommy thinks of Zoe as just one of the guys. She wears long, baggy sweatshirts and, well, just looks like one of the guys. She loved to play sports with the guyts, and crack jokes on them! Tommy shows up on the bus one day to find Zoe in a tight shirt and small jeans. For once, shje actually looks like a girl. Tommy always knew Zoe, but just didnt realize how much until then.
This is the first book I've read in the Fill in the Blank Series. Rachel Vail is a tremendous author. The one thing I don't like about this seires is that the first four books were silimar to this one because they are told by different people. I guess since this is the first book I've read, I like this one the best. Tommy is a good-looking guy, and very athletic. He participates in a lot of sports ranging from soccer to football. I recommend that if you are in Middle School and like to read books like The Fill in the Blank Series, purchase this book and enjoy! The Golden Ring: A Christmas Story ReviewThis is a sentimental family-oriented "feel good" book about Christmas in 1918. It depicts life in an earlier century. But even while set during a war period, it was a time when people looked out after one another, neighbor helped neighbor, and a family was a more stable relationship. This is a bit of fictionalized family-history but well worth the time to read. It just might make your Christmas brighter.
The Golden Ring is about the live of young Anna who lives in the Pennsylvania coal area. The ring, a cherished gift from her father, is passed on to a poor, needy family traveling through the area in search of a home and work just prior to Christmas. The real story is about love, and giving, and caring not only for family but for others as well. It is the story of a young girl living out the true meaning of Christmas--something not everyone in today's world will understand. In the end (the predictable ending) the entire family enjoys the rewards of a manger-centered Christmas rather than a worldly Santa focus.

A Silver Ring ReviewNathan has done an outstanding job of writing a story that anyone can identify with if they have ever lived. Of course pilots old and new will see the parallels of their own lives or of the people that they know through the always small world of aviation. This book even offers up how small the world of aviation truly is. Romantics will more than identify with the relationship side of this book between parents and kids, siblings, lovers, and married couples. It is a tale that I identified with in so many ways yet it was so different from my own life, and I believe most readers will be able to insert themselves into the book in their fitting role. The flying scenarios are very accurate and truthful. The non-pilot will be able to understand as good as the highly experienced aviator.
As a civilian trained airline pilot, trained by my best friend my father who passed away very prematurely, and now raising what promises to be a third generation pilot, I can recommend this book to all readers, but especially those with a love for aviation and the camaraderie that surrounds those of us so taken in by it. I only hope that Nathan has more of this kind of story to share with us.

Mindsight: Near-Death and Out-of-Body Experiences in the Blind ReviewThis is required reading for anyone interested in NDEs. It succinctly covers an aspect of the phenomenon not covered elsewhere. There are, however, a couple of disconcerting aspects: First, the authors' Acknowledgement makes clear that they received funding and support from the Theophosist to whom the book is dedicated and that the results of their research are generally in harmony with the doctrines of Theosophy. This is not necessarily a problem, but it is noteworthy in light of Theosophy's checkered past (i.e., founder Madame Blavatsky and her cast of "Ascended Masters"). Second, there is a pasted-in disclaimer telling you to ignore the Author's Note and Appendix because the case presented therein is now believed to be a fraud. They included this case without personally investigating it. It is to their credit that they included the disclaimer, which had to be embarrassing. The rest of the book is excellent. The cases are presented and discussed in a very matter-of-fact manner, and the authors' speculation as to what the explanation may be is interesting and credible. The authors also seem to be quite candid about acknowledging weaknesses in the evidence. As with any anecdotal evidence, the weight you attach to it will depend on how much faith you have that (1) the experiencers are reporting their experiences honestly and accurately, and (2) the authors are honestly and accurately reporting what the experiencers said. I was left with a reasonably high level of confidence in regard to both (1) and (2), although I would liked to have known more about the medical and psychological histories of the experiencers. Overall, I would highly recommend this. (Oh, there is also a short but excellent Foreword by Charles Tart which should be required reading for debunkers in which he explains the difference between true science and "scientism" -- i.e., scientific-dogma-as-religion -- about as clearly as it could be explained.)Mindsight: Near-Death and Out-of-Body Experiences in the Blind Overview

With This Ring, I Thee Dread ReviewIn the first couple of chapters I wasn't sure I would like this book. The heroine was a bit of a man-hater and the hero was a bit of a wimp. Obviously their parents agreed with me. They blackmail them into an arranged marriage and an isolated four month honeymoon in a cabin the middle of the Alaskan wilderness with no outside contact. Away from the distractions of modern life, they have a lot of time to think. Through this four month period they learn things about each other and about themselves. Since they are 30 and 27 year old virgins, sex is not a part of the learning process which is refreshing in a romantic novel. By the end of the book they've grown enough that I can like them and they have formed a bond that will last.With This Ring, I Thee Dread Overview

With This Ring, I Thee Dread: A Contemporary Romantic Comedy ReviewTypically people aren't forced into marriage in this day very often. But that did happen for Ryan and Elizabeth. Their harsh reality of being forced to marry and live together in the Alaskan wilderness for four months is appalling to both parties. Elizabeth hates Ryan for his behavior during grade school. Ryan hates Elizabeth for her coldness toward him. Both learn that there were other forces at work in their relationships and their hatred is replaced by friendship. Of course, it all works out in the end. It wouldn't be a romance novel if that didn't happen!
The book is a delight to read! It didn't take me long at all to get caught up in the story, eager to see what would happen with every turn of a page. Ruth Ann Nordin brings to light a rare situation where two people who are forced to be together do come around to like and even love one another. Her style is fun and exciting to read! I can't wait to delve into other works by this fun and exciting author!With This Ring, I Thee Dread: A Contemporary Romantic Comedy Overview

The Faerie Ring ReviewThe Faerie Ring is a story of survival amidst the backdrop of 1871 London. When I think of historical London, I picture majestic castles and richly adorned royals. In reality, there are also dark alleys with scruffy orphans. Tiki is one of those orphans.
There is so much that I like about Tiki. She is the leader to a group of young orphans and they all pick pockets to get by. I admire the way Tiki cared for these orphans and how they all banded together like a family. My favorite orphan is little Clara because of her gentle innocence.
All heck breaks loose when Tiki steals Queen Victoria's ring from the royal castle.The ring has super powers. Now that it is in the wrong hands, the peace between England's rulers and the leaders of the fey is in jeopardy. Tiki holds the ring that will either bring peace or an all-out war. It is like a pick-pocket's worst nightmare!
Tiki finds romance with Rieker, who has acted as her protector from the shadows. A fellow orphan, Rieker has a secret past that will take you by surprise. These two are great together and I like their connection. They both have a sweet spot for orphans that I found endearing. It is not often in young adult novels that I read about a bond as special as this one.
The Faerie Ring depicts survival on more than one level. With an engaging romance and a riveting mystery, KiKi Hamilton's debut left me anxious for more.

The Ring ReviewWhen I saw the movie based on this book, I had to go and buy the book. Danielle Steel does an amazing job of bringing the characters to life, and drawing the reader into the story. From the first sentence, I was hooked. Ariana von Tripp is an amazing woman who finds love on more than one occasion. The reader will cry at Ariana's many heartbreaks, and will feel joy when she finds happiness. This is one of the best books Steel has written...ever. Everyone MUST read this book. You will be a Danielle Steel fan for life!The Ring Overview
